Stupid Mirrors

Have you ever gone into a fitting room, and you just look better than normal?
Yeah, me either!

So, I'm in Nicole Miller last night.
Or maybe it was BCBG, who knows.
And I'm desperately looking for a dress.
And as I'm taking off my clothes to try on this GORGEOUS gown...
I just had to gasp in horror.
My stomach did not look like that a few years ago.
And my legs no longer look like runner's legs.
And man, do my arms look quite flabby.
Where did the firm, athletic, teenager body go?
Yes, its partially my fault that I have put on a lb. here and there.
But I feel like blaming it on those stupid store mirrors.
You know the ones I'm talking about.
The mirrors with super high intensity light.
The mirrors that show us every single flaw we don't want to ever see.
The flaws that we try to mask by getting dressed in the mornings as far away from a mirror as we possibly can.
Yes, those kind of stupid dressing room mirrors.

Needless to say, I did not find a dress.
Not because of the mirrors.
Not because I wasn't willing to pay for the $500 Vera Wang I fell in love with.
But because hunger set it. I was so hungry I had to leave.
And I wonder why I am not happy with the girl in the mirror....

Beauty Down!

If you watched last night's Miss Universe than you proably saw what I saw. Poor Miss America totally ate it during the evening gown competition. First, I felt so embarrassed for her. Then, I kinda wanted to laugh (but I didn't). I felt so bad for her. But, not only did this poor girl fall and probably has a sore and bruised ass, but the audience boo-ed her during the interview part of the competition. Total cruelty! She was definitely my favorite girl from the pageant. She was absolutely stunning. Seriously, I think she was the prettiest girl I have seen in such a long time. And her dress....so classic and beautiful. Also my favorite. My other favorite girls were: Miss Brazil (I mean, hello! BrasileƱas are always gorgeous), Miss Japan (who won, loved her dress too), and of course, Miss Bolivia (I gotta represent!). Oh, if you want to see the video of Miss America falling, then check it out HERE.

Chicken Walk

So, my new thing is to get in shape. Yes, I've been running. Yes, I've been swimming. But, I have been (purposefully) neglecting part of the perfect workout equation....the gym! So, on Monday, I decided I needed some tough love. So, I kicked my own ass at the gym. I did so many lunges and squats that my legs felt like Jell-O and I barely walked out of there without assistance. I did like 75 calf raises with 100lb weights. I did that machine I hate, the leg extension one....man, that machine BURNS worse shampoo in the eyes. I even did the leg press. But not the girly leg press, the manly one. The one on the side of the gym where you see the guys grunting as if they are about to poop their pants. The side of the gym where guys are checking themselves out in the mirror, all while spotting their best friend bench 500lbs. Yep, that side of the gym. I'm not scared of those big muscle men with little you know whats. So, back to my point. Not only did I do a leg workout for an hour, but then I decided to push myself even more and do the Abs Class. Big Mistake. 30 minutes later I had to ask some old man to help me off the ground. Now, here I am, two days later, and I sore beyond belief. I look like a chicken when I walk. My ass is sticking out, my chest is kinda leaned in (because my abs are too sore to straighten out) and my legs are so sore that I have to take itty bitty awkward looking steps. Its quite embarrasing, really. But, then again, I love being sore. Its bittersweet. And even though I can barely walk....I'm heading to the gym at 5:00. Wish me luck...I'm going to need it.

Who Rocks the Party that Rocks the Body?

Yeah, that's right ladies (and maybe 1 or 2 gents that read this)...
I totaly rocked the party this weekend.
Not only did I bang out like 4-5 Scrappies.
But I cleaned my entire appartment.
And ran/walked Burke Lake.
And swam Saturday morning.
And watched a Work Out Marathon.
And visited the family. Love them.
And even did several loads of laundry.
And my most favorite part of the weekend...
Hanging with my girl Claudia (see: "I Miss Her).
She's back from Italy and I couldn't be happier!
I forgot how much I love this girl.
She totally rocks as a friend and as a drinking partner.
Plus, I got to see Yennie. And Cricket. And others.
So, I'm as happy as a girl can be.
Ok, time for Bed. I have swim practice at 5AM.
Yes, that's right. I said 5AM. So...Goodnight!

Oh, I almost forgot about the Scrappage. I think my favorite is the "I Travel" one. I mean, it doesn't get any better than Ashley Wren ScrapJack + Power Scrappage + Hambly. Yummy!!

Can you smell the weekend?

I know I can.
So close. Yet so far.
To me, the weekend means:
Freedom from work.
Sunshine and fresh air.
Family and friends.
BBQs on Sunday.
Long runs around Burke Lake.
Laughing so hard I cackle.
Scrapbooking Time.
Bike rides with my nerdy helmet.
Making breakfast with Matty.
Swim practice at a decent hour.
Cat naps on the couch.
Late lunches and even later dinners.
Pedicures and beer runs.
Reading and Italian homework.
Target, Coscto, and Bloom.
And just simply stated,
Freedom from the ordinary.

And of course, drinking, dancing, and acting awesomely cool with friends. As such.
Have a great weekend everybody! I know mine will be filled with scrappy time, and I can't effing wait! Rock on, my lady friends, rock on!

No Parking & Long Lines

No Parking & Long Lines = Me all Dressed Up with Nowhere to Go. I didn't quite make it to Michelle's Birthday party on Saturday. But I tried. There's just something about clusters of people pretty much begging to get into a club that makes me want to turn around and go home. Add so that is what I did. I'm sorry Michelle! But I tried.
So last night, Matty and I decided to have some fun! We found an empty parking lot and went Rollerblading! Yep, that's right! We had speed races and Matt (Apollo Anton Ohno as he called himself) beat me senseless. Apparantly, the 8th grade skills aren't what they used to be. Regardless, we had so much fun! Best night ever!!

24 was a Good Year

I can speak from experience when I say 24 was a good year. A year full of adventure, travels, surprises, love, and happiness. I wish you all the best on your 24th birthday, my dearest cousin! Happy Happy Birthday! Live it up and have fun! Can't wait to party it up with you on Saturday. =)

Happy (belated) NSD & CDM!!

Has National Scrapbooking Day always been the same day as Cinco De Mayo? Or did it just so happen to fall on the same day this year? I don't remember but I hope its the latter. Because otherwise, for being such a creative hobby, scrappers could have really picked a better day. I mean...How am I supposed to get wasted on Margaritas AND scrap all day? The results would be nothing less than horrible. I mean, its really not necessary to steal other countries holidays. Its just not right, I tell you! Anyways, this year I wasn't able to celebrate either. But that's ok because I had Megaritas for Meg's Bachelorette party up in Ocean City!! But, I was a featured in the "user highlights" on TwoPeas for NSD, which made me feel quite honored. Check it out here if you want.

Ohh Sawyer, My Hero

Seriously, how AWESOME was THIS guy last night? He totally rocked it! And when he threw up after killing that dude....my heart went out to him. Poor thing. How crazy was it that Locke's "dad" was the original Sawyer! At the beginning of the episode I hated Locke. Almost as much as I hated his "dad." But by the end, he had me all intrigued and what not. The LOST story line keeps getting better and better. Although, I still feel like they need to hurry up and answer some questions. Like, is it true that Jack is working with the Others? Why did Kate tell Jack about the new girl (what's her name?). Is Kate preggers? And will Sun really die...I doubt it. And when is Charlie going to die, once and for all? Ok, that was mean, but I'm sick of Desmond saving him. Did anyone else notice that those kids are growing up real fast, especially that girl. No more teddy bears for those two.

So, last night I had dinner with Miss Vee. Can I just say that she is so much fun! She totally got me. And its so nice to say things like Hambly, 7 Gypsies, Heidi Swapp, and TwoPeas and have someone know exactly what you're talking about.

So, I leave for Ocean City tomorrow. How exciting is that? Little does my boss know that I will be calling out "sick" tomorrow. Hehe. Why use a vacation day when you can pull a sick day? Anyways, I think OC will be fun. It will be good to hangout with some people I usually don't hang with plus see some old faces that I haven't seen in years. Will post pictures when I get back. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and a super fun NSD!!
